As an Atlanta newborn and family photographer, it's an honor to document the most precious moments for new parents!

As a Metro Atlanta newborn photographer, I’ve witnessed the strength and tenderness of new parents in all kinds of beginnings — but this in-home session with Kate, John, and Jackson, their heart warrior baby, was something special. Jackson entered into this world with some unexpected difficult medical hurdles to overcome, but he has been a happy, faithful fighter since the beginning. Born with 3 congenital heart defects, he has already faced two open-heart surgeries during his little life, resulting in some feeding difficulties and the needs for several medications and therapies throughout the recovery process.
I was honored to get to see Kate and John handle such unpredictable circumstances with grace, joy, and flexibility. When Kate reached out to me during her high-risk pregnancy, there were still so many unknowns, and yet she trusted me with their story and to document life exactly in the moment that they're in — medical tubes and all. As a pediatric nurse that cares for medically complex children, I understood that with this prognosis came much fear, medical education, and flexibility of scheduling and comfort.
To the mom facing a new diagnosis for her little one, this is the message Kate wants the world to know:
"Jackson was born with three congenital heart defects. We learned about Jackson’s diagnosis at my 20 week anatomy scan and it was later confirmed by a fetal echo at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. We feel fortunate we had some time to prepare for life as heart parents, learn what a transfer to the cardiac ICU the day of his birth would look like, and talk to other friends and family in our life that have experienced complex medical parenthood.
"Stepping into this chapter has been the scariest thing we have ever done but also the one filled with the most profound joy of our lives. Every milestone, every smile, every simple walk in the stroller means that much more. We have prioritized finding joy in the smallest moments, laughing through the messy middle, and trusting the plan Jackson’s doctors make as his heart continues to evolve." - Kate
This hasn’t been without our fair share of tears and curveballs and have learned that while often the hardest thing, patience is what we all need most in this journey. Healing takes time and is not linear."
Continuing to cheer on and pray for this little heart warrior! Enjoy a glimpse into this family's daily life here in Atlanta, GA!
