As a Greenville newborn and family photographer, I love to be able to help busy mamas style their families aesthetically for their fall family portrait sessions.
I recently went on an online shopping spree after going to an outlet mall and coming out with my hands still empty. Coming out of a mall with my wallet still full AND then turning to online shopping are both really abnormal for me! More times than not I have had awful experiences shopping online. I've ordered a size that doesn't work me, the color of the outfit is different than the photos online, the style doesn't fit right on me, or the most hilarious experience is when I ordered a size 6 dress from Amazon and they sent me a size 6 in a child's dress! That one definitely got returned!!
Well armed with a $25 Amazon gift card and a $20 shopping credit from Honey, I decided to let Amazon try and redeem itself... and well, let's just say I felt as if I hit the jackpot!! But before I share all the Amazon dress goodness, let me just say that if I didn't have the shopping credit from Honey than I probably wouldn't have made the purchase. Milkmaid dresses are like the most popular option right now!! If you are looking for a flowy, feminine option, this is for you! It hits slightly above the ankles, and with it's delicate details, it adds the perfect neutral touch to your family photos. I've recently been obsessed with the smocked, square-neckline, because it is just so flattering on all body types! This dress comes with plenty of reviews, photos, and color options.
This off-the-shoulder maxi dress is a great basic to incorporate into your family's wardrobe! AND it has pockets!!! That's an essential! I just love this dusty rose color, and while that's not typically a color you would associate with fall, it pairs so well with navy, cream, tans, or even a small touch of burgundy. It looks such a cozy option that is loose enough to allow you to keep up with your kiddos.
Want to add a little bit of pattern to your coordinating outfits? This is a great option! Out of all the patterns offered I would highly suggest sticking to this one. Typically patterns can be distracting and draw the attention away from your beautiful faces, but dainty, light florals or other small patterns can be incorporated as an accent. Try to stick with one pattern, and then incorporate lots of neutrals. I can already image your husband in a white henley with khakis, your little man running around in suspenders, and your toddler in a blush-colored romper!!
I love the boho touches of this maxi dress! As with dusty rose, lavender is not the typical fall color. But it truly is an underrated neutral!! This light purple hue would pair beautifully with creams and tans or grays and whites. This dress had such a beautiful flow and length to it that works so well in adding an element of movement to your family photos!
Here is another milkmaid dress that I am in LOVE with!!! This one has SO many neutral colored options!! If you look at it closely, it has an adorable Swiss dot texture to it. It hits above the ankle and has the perfect amount of twirl-factor! This blue-gray hue is perfect for your fall photos!! You could pair this with baby blue, gray, and white. Or my other favorite is to pair it with warmer shades of white, cream, and tan! It's such a versatile color!
The ruffles on this dress are a dream!!! While the back of this dress is a little more revealing for the fall months, I wanted to include it because it would look SO good paired with a cozy, knit cardigan! Some of the other colors of this dress that I really love are gray, cantaloupe, sky blue, mauve, pink (looks blush but that is the name), and white (always white!).
I just love the feminine, delicate floral design of this dress!! It is midi length, but still offers plenty of flow! The white and blue are also beautiful floral dresses to incorporate into your family's wardrobe. The review photos of this dress show that the neckline of the dress is actually not as low as it appears on the model. This dress has just the perfect touch of pastel!
This is PERFECT for maternity photos!! The off-the-shoulder top and layered ruffles are so flattering on many different body types! Pictured is the apricot color, which is a pretty pale yellow to bring out the fall colors. I also love the light pink and sky blue shades of this dress.
Here is another great option that could be for maternity or just traditional family photos!! I own a dress very similar to this, and my favorite thing is to just spin around in it, because the flowy skirt is just so fun! The dress is also a Swiss dot textured pattern and comes in many other beautiful colors.
This dress screams fall with it's maple leaf pattern!! While this pattern tends to be on the bold side, it can easily be counterbalanced with lots of cream and tan accents. Imagine it paired with cozy sweaters, knahkis, cute sweaters dresses, and little bonnets. There are other patterns that I love of this dress (such as the white floral 01); however, it exceeds the $35 budget of this post.
Fall is for ALL of the sweaters, am I right?! So of course I could not make a post about fall without linking a sweater dress for you. This dress has so many color options that I just adore (blush, sage, white, khaki)!!! The review photos of this dress show that it is not as midi-length as it appears on the model, so this would look great with knee-high boots, a long necklace to compliment the turtleneck, and a wide-brim hat!
Here is a more oversized sweater dress, if you don't prefer a fitted style! This just looks SO cozy, and I just love how the model added a belt and short booties!! This also comes in apricot and gray. According to the reviews, it is encouraged to order a size bigger than your normal size to achieve the oversized look.
This is not your traditional fall dress, but I love that the floral pulls in the fall tones along with the muted, light blue!! It has long sleeves, and adds a little extra flair with the off-the-shoulder bodice and side slit. Since this dress has a bolder pattern, I highly suggest pairing it with all neutrals to complement the statement piece!
This chiffon maxi dress is the perfect basic dress for your fall photos!! It has long sleeves and a flowy skirt that we all love for those walking photos! I love this dusty rose color, because it just reminds me of all the autumn vibes! The model shows it with a big, floppy hat which I absolutely adore!!! This color would pair beautifully with all the neutrals. Think whites, creams, oatmeal, tan, brown, and gray.
Here is another square-necked smocked dress that is just so feminine!! This dress offers several different pastel and neutral colors, but I linked this dusty blue color for all of my blue-lovers out there! I could see this paired with a navy sports jacket for your husband, a oatmeal linen dress for your little girl, and a gray gingham button down for your little boy. The possibilities are endless!!

I decided to link just one more dress, because I bought this for myself and I am in LOVE!!!! If you have an older daughter around 10 years old and up, this would be the perfect dress for her! I always love to suggest maxi dresses for mama, because they are so flattering on many different body types and add a beautiful element of movement to family photos.
